Tell me about a time when… What are your strengths and weaknesses? Followed by ‘would you consider hiring X again?’ are all good and well but as a complete recruitment process there are a lot of limitations with this approach. I say this because anyone these days can google good interview responses and enlist their mate to act as a referee. If you really want to ascertain candidates’ skill competency levels and personality match for the role and organisation, skill and psychometric testing are a must.

Techniques I employ to secure the best candidate include skill and psychometric testing tailored for specific roles, industries and seniority levels. I also use case studies and mock working scenarios as a back up to gain a complete picture of their skills, attributes and knowledge.

I am very adept at large scale recruitment projects and will happily design and facilitate assessment centres which include the above as well as group problem solving activities.
